First Annual Shoot for The Moon Foundation a Success

Cleveland Cavaliers Co-Captain Eric Snow had a very busy but successful weekend.  The 10-year NBA vet who has appeared in two NBA finals ('96' & '2001)  hosted over 130 golfers as part of his 1st Annual Shoot for the Moon Foundation Golf Outing and Silent Auction.  The two day affair began Sunday evening September 11th with a classy reception for the sponsors and participants.  The reception allowed participants to be teamed up with their celebrity golfers as well chat and enjoy the first class, 5-Star accommodations at the prestigious Walden Country Inn located in Aurora, Ohio.  The Silent Auction was also unveiled for those in attendance.

On Monday September 12th the actual golfing began with participants filing in as early as 7am for breakfast and pre-golf warm-up at the Walden Country Club driving range. On an almost perfect morning around 9am, the golfers hit course with a "shot gun format" and joined celebrities, Michael Redd (Milwaukee Bucks), Theo Ratliff (Portland Trailblazers), Ira Newble (Cleveland Cavaliers), former NBA stars Sedric Toney (Cavaliers and Sacramento Kings), Brad Sellers (Chicago Bulls), NBA Legends Jojo White (Boston Celtics), Austin Carr (Cleveland Cavaliers), Campy Russell (Cleveland Cavaliers), former NFL stars Reggie Rucker (Cleveland Browns), Gary Jeter (New York Giants), New Cavaliers General Manager Danny Ferry, Cavaliers Television Analyst Michael Reghi, New Cavaliers Public Address Announcer Ronnie Duncan along with members of the Cavalier Dance Team, Ohio's Avant Garde Models,  TV 19 Action News and Radio Q 104 Executives.

The mid-afternoon luncheon featured awards, great food, and alot of competitive bidding on incredible autographed auction items donated by sports stars such as:  Allen Iverson, Chris Webber, and Willie Green (Philadelphia 76ers), Jason Kidd, Vince Carter, and Marc Jackson (New Jersey Nets), Elton Brand (Los Angels Clippers), Brian Urlacher (Chicago Bears), Dirk Nowitzki (Dallas Mavericks), Venus Williams, Tiger Woods, Lebron James and Zydrunas Ilgauskus (Cleveland Cavaliers), Dwight Howard (Orlando Magic), Gary Payton (Boston Celtics), Jim Brown, Bernie Kosar, and LeRoy Kelly (Cleveland Browns), and Dikembe Mutombo (Houston Rockets).

Overall, Eric's 1st Annual Shoot for the Moon was a great success.  Look for information regarding his 2nd Annual Golf Outing Soon!

Shoot for the Moon is a not-for-profit organization founded by Cleveland Cavaliers’ star guard Eric Snow 1997. The foundation is dedicated to strengthening and supporting families within Cleveland, Canton, and surrounding areas. Shoot 4 the Moon’s mission is to empower and encourage fathers with life skills, family development, business, education, and home ownership.

Eric Snow is a Canton, Ohio native, as well as a ten-year veteran of the NBA. He has returned to his hometown after spending the past five seasons as team captain of the Philadelphia 76ers. In 2000, the NBA rewarded Eric for his charitable activities by awarding him their Sportsmanship Award. In addition to the NBA Sportsmanship Award (the Joe Dumars Trophy), he was awarded the 2002 National Fatherhood Award issued by the National Fatherhood Initiative. Eric has recently been named the 2005 recipient of the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award, presented annually by the Professional Basketball Writers Association. He is currently the team captain of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
